An ordinary miracle

What an ordinary thing!
Why, it happens every day
As natural as spring
Or the tides that wash the bay.

What a commonplace event
Like a rainbow arch on high
Or the sunrise every morning
Or the stars that fill the sky.

How natural - and yet
There is nothing on this earth
That will ever match the miracle
Of a precious baby's birth.
